Week 24 FEEDBACK

Okay i guess this is the last blog...

Just wanted to say that the teachers were awesome and they opened my eyes in various ways and thought me various types of drawing styles and working with the software 3d max. This was a challenging course that i enjoyed just wished that i faced less problems on the semester 2 due to personal problems =(..

Anyways i like having feedback because some times you miss your footage and lead the wrong way which leaves some tasks undone. I like feedback because it basically explains what needs doing and how i could improve and what i improved on.

I am proud of what i have been thought through this year and i know that for a fact my drawing has improved as my family mentioned it a few times and my tutor did, Chris.Face book has really helped me to make new friends and blend in with others and combine ideas or give ideas.

I truly believe that i am adapting to 3D max as i enjoy it more when I’m working on it and my perspective view is imporving.=)

I really liked the course and i really enjoyed every journey we spent weekly to different places it allowed me to look around Leicester and draw at the same time. Anyways all i hope is to get into the second year for Game Art Design. Thank you for everything...I’ve acknowledged a lot thanks to Mike, Chris and Heather! X my intentions are to get better over the holidays on the areas that i lacked on =D FAREWELL............

Week 23 Regrets =,(

The were no task set for this week so I’ve decided to talk about what things i regret from not doing in this course is not using the tabs. = (so i have decided to start using the tabs when i purchase it and practise daily to improve on the side of computer and the other thing i regret is not researching about the course before i joined in that way i could have practised with 3D max anyways now i know nothing is stopping me from practising each day. =D Thank you

week 22

Okay this is a topic i know less knowledge off i just know what the GDC stands for anyway back to the topic...

As i never went to the Game Developers Conference it’s hard to make a comment so i decided to go on the website so i could see how it works. So now that i went on the website it actually shown that game developers come to the conference and give speeches about the game they created well i think the title explains everything =). I think there is a positive side to GDC for other Game developers to acknowledge its positivity or mistake from other game developers. It will help other game designers to think ahead and combine all the ideas and try to mix and change every bit and make it better and it should be completely different as i mentioned before plagiarism is really bad!

That’s what i barely know about the GDC anyways check this website for more info =D but i wished i went to one of the conference it would have been an eye opening journey for me to think ahead anyway we could always check on YouTube as i have watched the conference on YouTube of Hideo Kojima game release Metal Gear Solid 4 =D

Hers is the website below please check...

Week 21

Where do i want to be in three years? Well this is an important question which should be really easy to answer but it’s not that easy as you think because in life you come across so many things that change your plan!! If you know what i mean!

Anyways....back to answering this question!! So what do i want to be? I want to be a game designer... what i want to achieve in life is to make a game of my own or at least have my character, environment, weapons, anything in a game that’s been released worldwide! This course is what i really wanted to do! As Chris mentioned before when kids even adults here the word game they get deaf and blind and not see the difficulty and effort that will be needed to make a game! When i entered the course i knew nothing about it and haven’t even researched what we do for the course!! I regret not doing so! Why? If i knew i would have practised daily on 3d max and my perspective drawings before i started in that way the course would have been less stressful!! I know that I’m not the best drawer or the best at 3D max but I’m certainly not a quitter! Why don’t i want to quit it? It’s because i always wanted to do something that relates to game art and now that i got that chance why give up!! I faced stress, headaches, jealousy!! Then i asked myself what the heck! I need to stop complaining and keep practising until i become the best to what i do! Problems will be in every course but that shouldn’t stop anyone! Well that’s what i think!! I am certainly enjoying the course but facing a lot of stress and difficulties!

Truly speaking i think i have improved on 3d max there still minor mistakes and minor difficulties but i am willing to get better and the motivation from class mates, family and teachers are great help! What i am trying to do is to become addicted or adapt to the 3d max software! I will then achieve the best!! I am willing to practise daily with 3d max and drawings over the holiday!! Should be exciting and stress relief!!

My dream is to make a game under any manager and sell it to worldwide!! It would be my biggest achievement even if i don’t succeed it would be a huge experience! If that ever happens i would try to notice all the faults and try not making the mistake ever again!!

What i know i will gain from this course is experience, professionalism, understanding and a lot more that will help me after three years to get a job in the game industry!! I know it is easier said than to be done but i am willing to do so!! Thank you!!

Week 20

Another week on creativity lets go for it =D so what is creativity? Creativity could be manifested from any direction in fact i believe everything that we see today is creativity. Buildings that are made need creativity, sofa designs need creativity even when a product comes out to the stock and i mean anything it will need a design that would be a appropriate and visualize WOW to the customers that’s what attracts the customers to purchase the product so they will have to be designed to an extent to get it purchasable and this is done by nothing else but creativity.

Recently as i mentioned before we had a lecture with mike about creativity and majority of the creative example he gave us i didn’t know about and now i do and i might know some that mike might not know off! What’s the reason? Creativity is large and it’s manifested in everything which majority of people creative.

I will give an example of creativity and hopefully i should define creativity in the easiest way...

Let’s start with music. Okay music is creative why because you use your mind to think ahead and express it through music with your body. When mind and body clash together it will only show creativity depends on how you express it! So if my mind and body clashed to go to shops for example that is not creativity!! I basically creative is harder to define and easy to see as it flows with majority people.

8 or 9 weeks ago i could barely remember Chris gave a lecture to us about his daughter! Chris basically had an interview about his daughter progress in school and all they were talking about was English and math nothing to do with fun or anything creative. It seemed unfair as she’s only 8 years old! When you’re in infant’s school should be fun and exciting and then it should gradually start to become maturing through age. The only reason why i mention this is because mike gave us a question, are kids creative? some said yes and most said no! Truly speaking i thought they were to but found out they weren’t. Kids brain are not functional to think of ideas they just do whatever they can do and that is not creativity it just them having fun. It made sense to make later which took me out of shock later =)

Does game industry manifest in creativity? I truly think that game design is surrounded by creativity. From start to the end it’s all creativity for a course like this there is nothing that involves being uncreative.

Course like this gets us to notice the creativity within us by combining ideas and thinking about new ideas that is being visualized through sketch books, 3d max etc. everyone are always amazed with most of the games and how they are always different all the time it’s because of the unique creativity and ideas that make the sound, graphics, story and gameplay completely different as there should be no sign of plagiarism. The main reason why game need to be good as it’s a challenging market and they will surely face so many competitors which i think is a sign of motivation. Creativity is within majority people. =D

Week 19

Some game companies want highly trained graduate artists and programmers. Some claim they really prefer creative individuals with a good Liberal Arts background. They can’t both be right can they?
This all depends what the companies are looking for so if the company wanted a professional and skilled full artist he would obviously look for someone who has those qualities if he wants someone who is creative individual with a good Liberal Arts background he would search for those quality in a person!!

They both are right and considerable to get jobs as they already experienced different things! For example when i had a job for TALKTALK i knew nothing about it but they have thought me everything that i needed to know!! What i am trying to say if the creative individual with a good liberal arts background went on an interview and lacked a few stuff they wouldn’t reject him straight away! They will find out what he lacked and touch that up till it’s mastered! This will be probably done while he is accepted or as a trainee. There are no negatives if people slack a few skills you could always learn it!! It’s because art is huge and has different style which leads to exploring other technique and skills! When i started this course i knew i didn’t know everything and i knew i slacked a few skills but i know that i could improve on it or start learning different skills! Like 3D max i didn’t know a single thing about it but now i know the basics and I’m not so bad at the program but my target is to become a pro at it! =D so i strongly believe that both of the skills that was mentioned on the question would receive positive feedback!

Week 18

I strongly believe that music and sound is really important for games or TV. Without sound to a game it seems boring, unreal and less attractive. Sound is a huge impact to games or TV without music or sound it brings no thrill! For example if i was playing resident evil 5 without any sound or music just imagine how it would be? Just imagine! You wouldn’t jump with thrill throughout the game play all you would be doing is observing which sounds boring!! So yes i believe that sound or music is really important it also brings the emotion out of a game. Another example, Call of duty Modern Warfare and Metal gear Solid expressed its emotion through sound and music without music or sound it will feel lifeless and unemotional!
Whenever a trailer releases for a game it visualises with the graphics and it attracts it with the sound!! Sound is really important from my point of view!! What do you think? Just imagine yourself playing games without sound or music!! Would you enjoy it??
I could remember me playing God of War 1 and 2 sadly haven’t played 3 yet will do very soon! Anyways when i played god of war i loved smashing everything like boxes to get the orbs and killing every enemy but the excitement was done by gameplay and sound. The sound of smashing the boxes felt real and satisfying even the orbs had sound effect which made the orbs feel important!! Killing the enemies gave the sound of the sword slicing and the blood pouring sound expressed the realism and brutalism of the game. Throughout the game play you had to increase your weapon power with the orbs you obtained. After you increased the sword to level 2 it makes a sound like you’re becoming more powerful. This is why i strongly believe that sound brings realism and thrill from the game!

Week 17

What does a game engine do!! Well game engines relate to everything such as rendering 2D or 3D graphics, sounds, scripting, animation etc. mostly everything! Games are made through the engine!! Engines is the main software on making games but it is amazing how every games include different characters, different sounds, different graphics which leads you to think are they using the same engine!! I won’t say that one engine is used for every game but one engine is reused to make so many different games. Engine is based around anything such as computers, games, TV etc. most of the things include engine nowadays!! This is the reason to its popularity!!

Game engines have two ways which is a subtractive method and addictive method!
javascript:void(0)
Addictive method starts with emptiness what is usually called void!! And subtractive method is the opposite of the addictive method!!... The website stated below defines the true meaning...please have a read!!

(This website gives clear definition of the addictive and subtractive method)!!

http://everything2.com/title/additive+and+subtractive+environments

Week 16

Game culture is about being influenced by video games and this popularity has increased magnificently which lead to influencing so many people and i am one of them =D

I love games that involve actions, violence or sport games such as FIFA 08, 09 and 10.A year ago i was a game freak that loved playing games i was mentally addicted and i constantly played every day!! Especially metal gear solid 4 and Call of Duty Modern warfare but now i don’t play as much! I do look for time but i fail to...reason being due to 3d max and visual design!! This is where it gets confusing!! =S
So am i a part of game culture? Was i? Well i don’t know. I basically believe i was!! Due to circumstances i had to put a break to it!! I know for a fact that i will be back in gaming in the summer holidays!!

I could remember when i played metal gear 4!! I absolutely loved that game to bits!! I can’t even explain!! That’s the only game i had to purchase on the release date!! There was a time where i completed the game a few times and then i went online and made few friends that i barely knew and they invited me to the clan because of the skills and accuracy I had!! I’m not making myself look big and i wasn’t the best player ever for Metal gear but i knew i was really good at the game!! I was more of a single player than a team worker but i gradually got better at team working which was done by text boxes or mails through the ps3 system and sometimes it would get so serious that we would be on the phone while we were playing the game! I definitely wouldn’t be a better team partner if the other people weren’t being controlled by real people!! What i mean is if i were playing with a computer i wouldn’t know what i lacked on!! If that makes sense!! All i knew was, the game felt real and it was fun and exciting that made the time fly! It was more satisfying playing a friend than a computer! I believe i fit i the game culture...that’s all guys hope i haven’t bored you to death with my gaming history =D.

Week 15

Game industry has a lot of positive side and negative sides!! Negative side is it could distract students from their educations and some games could make kids brighter! It all depends on the game!! Well that isn’t the point!! Media’s like TV and games will always sell for years as they are always at the top of the other media’s!!

There is a high chance that the media TV or games being stopped from selling as they always update their products, re model, re design and have stronger engine built it’s amazing how it sells constantly! The audience is the hugest help as it will always entertain adults to kids and it will lead them to buy the product!!

For example, cigarettes is bad for health which could cause lug cancer depending on how addicted you are but still this product is selling due to its popularity. The reason why i mentioned this is because game industry is kind of the same. It is only selling because of its popularity and it attracts a large number of audiences.

Look where the industry was and look where it is now!! Game industry is huge look how it’s advertised! So much money is invested for games!! There would be sign boards, advertises in the cinema, on internet etc. there is a lot more...I could go on forever!

Game industry will be going on for years and years so there is nothing to worry about but what they need to worry about is making new consoles, new games ad new controllers as they need to keep the audience satisfied as it’s the main key to its popularity. If they do lack they could face a lot of problems so they will need to stay at the top and keep the audiences satisfied and entertained.

Postive leads you the right way!!

I was always proud of my work until i seen others!!

Well... what can i say they were more talented and it use to lower my confidence!! =(

Mike positive lecture has opened my eyes completely and lead me to have fun, think positive and gave me the motivation to keep trying until i reach my goal!! The progression might be slow but effective and someday i might be good as everyone or better!! so no more slacking off and keep workin hard!!

SO....TO EVERYONE,
NEVER GIVE UP AND KEEP PRACTISING!!
Thanks mike for your positive lectures! Truly helped!!

Week 12-14

On the day we had the lecture from our tutor, Mike about what is creativity? Mike gave us a question asking us...what is creativity? We all stared at each other and replied nothing!! What was the cause? Was it because our minds where full with answers that caused the jam or was it because none of us knew the true meaning of creativity?
We all know what creativity is but from our own point of view that’s the reason why everyone stopped for that moment thinking is my definition of creativity correct which lead us to wait with silence until mike repeated the question!! Anyways back to... whatever i was talking about... Oh yeah...what is creativity... From my point of view creativity is what everyone has in them! It could be done individually or as a team work!! It’s basically the process of thinking and then expressing it on paper for art or on field or audition etc. creativity leads us to an idea which could be a fantastic idea or something really simple but it is still creativity!!
I truly believe that everything around the world is invested with creativity!!
Am i creative? It took me a while before my brained switched on and asked myself yes i am creative why? It’s because at the moment i am doing a course which involves a lot concept drawings and modelling objects on 3d max which is creative!! Thinking is not creative!! So if i was thinking about futuristic vehicles is not creative until you start to concept draw on paper!! There’s a lot of subject that are creative i don’t want to mention any as it could be offensive to some people!! Anyways there was a time where i was stuck in between two creative subjects which were art and drama! I loved both of the subjects but i have no regrets on choosing art. =D but you will always have the thought in mind...what if i chose drama!! What if?!
Back to lecture!! Mike was mentioning many other things that revolved around creativity that i didn’t know about which lead me to confusion until it was explained and that was nothing else but my favourite sport football! It’s just an example of me saying anything could be creative without any realization until you start thinking deep!
Is our course creative?? Of course it is!! I always thought anything related to art was creative!! But the course i am doing is largely creative! Cause it involves a lot of concept drawings, different style of drawings, 3d modelling and a lot more!! It makes me feel proud that I’m doing a course that involves me to a lot creativeness!! Why? Cause creative is fun, entertaining and interesting to what level it expands to and leaves you with a thought which will be discovered until you get your ass moving!! =D

Week 11

What is game play?? Well game play is a combination of graphics, environment and storyline!! From my view game play is really important. Me as a gamer i will always want to play a game that has brilliant graphics that looks realistic such as Modern Warfare 2, God of war 3 etc. i strongly believe that graphics being so realistic draws the gamer into it... Emotionally!! Game play always need to be stringed or connected and that is done by story line! Storylines gets you into the game and leaves you thinking, what is going to happen next??!! Storyline could never finish with expectation!! It is always unexpected! It will keep the gamer excited and interested to carry on with the game as they are willing to know how it ends??!
I am not saying that people won’t play a game that hasn’t got a storyline but i know for a fact that more people are interested and excited when it involves storyline. Some games leave you unsatisfied such as call of duty!! This is where it becomes repetition. This could be an advantage or disadvantage!! For me modern warfare 2 was a brilliant game but it finished really fast and left me wanting more so i started to play the game several times until i was satisfied.
There are some gameplay that will satisfy you such as Final fantasy! It has brilliant graphics and a long extended storyline that will keep the gamer satisfied until it ends! Different game has different set of rules! Overall i strongly believe that game play is really important!!
